Review of The Cave (2005) by Paul B — 16 Feb 2008
Handsomely mounted cave diving thriller bears eerie similarities to Neil Marshall's critically lauded "The Descent", but actually came out first and has been unfairly overlooked in the rush to praise the latter film.
While the characters may not be as fully developed as Marshall's feisty female spelunkers, the production values here are superior, and the creatures even more elaborate. A slightly loopy ending is the only weak spot in what is otherwise an entertaining and visually impressive horror outing.
