Review of The Butcher Boy (1998) by Jj M — 08 May 2011
Excellent and entertaining take on Pat McCabe's novel by Neil Jordan, even if it's a little trite towards the old Irish culture. Descends into a disturbing nightmare by the end but maintains an involved sense of childhood playfulness throughout, and there are moments of manic hillarity provided by a great Irish cast.
