One of Cronenberg's best. Lovely to see it on DVD rather than crappy VHS finally! Here he transforms the pain of bad relationships and broken families into a nightmare of horror violence--although each brutal death is suffused with the kind of intimate and personal violence that can only remind you of home and hearth.
A little clunky at times, but one of Cronenberg's most mature and depressing visions. Masterpiece!
