Review of The Bounty (1984) by Andrew J — 02 Nov 2008
The third best adaptation of this old yarn. Not because of the direction, but due to Gibson's half arsed attempt at foppery. The comlexity of Bligh isn't really developed by a sub-par Hopkins, we only see him get a bit shouty and a little sweaty in bed when he has too much on is mind.
Overall, a little too sympathetic to Bligh and Christian. Give me a Charles Laughton and Marlon Brando mix any day.
