Review of The Book Thief (2013) by Simon W — 11 Feb 2014

I managed a feat with this movie that is truly rare in today's society. I went to see this film with no knowledge on what it was about, who was in it or what kind of reviews it had. The only thing I knew for certain was that it was a book first.

This is a beautiful movie. The cinematography is stunning, the narrative is gut wrenching and the acting is stellar. I truly believe people will enjoy this, and most will have various reasons for doing so. Whether it be the great storytelling, the inspirational acting and cast or simply the look and feel. It's uncomfortable in places, heartbreaking in others, but compelling throughout.
