Review of The Book of Life (2014) by Marco Z — 04 Nov 2014
The only thing I disliked was that they didn't write original music... and even then they chose excellent works to cover in the movie. The art, the animation style, the acting and choice of mostly Latino actors, the specific choice of the Mexican version of the Dia de los Muertos, all worked extremely well.
The pacing was good with appropriate breaks to reassure any children watching, and the scary bits of violence were carefully off screen. I saw it twice and will probably buy it on blu ray for my own enjoyment.
