Review of The Book of Life (2014) by Amanda C — 02 Nov 2015
It's a traditional story, and the frame of the museum storyteller is a bit tired, but this is mostly saved by the beautiful animation. The Book of Life is a feast for the eyes. Spectacular colours and fantastical creature populate the screen and are far more engaging than the story itself.
As it's only ninety minutes long, this doesn't really hurt it. The story that is there is just engaging enough and the visual gags hold everything together while the image just carries you along.
