Review of The Blues Brothers (1980) by Michael H — 30 Nov 2012
The Very First SNL Movie. The Blues Brothers performed on SNL in the 70's just like any satire band would do like The Rutles in the late 70's. The day Jake gets out of jail and is picked up by his brother Elwood, They have to raise 5 thousand dollars for an orphanage. This leads them to getting the blues brothers band getting back together and raising the money. But they are chased by a mysterious woman, neo nazis, the swat and the police force. This is a wild adventure. The kind of adventure like Raiders of the Lost Ark which would be released 1 year later. The movie is all about the adventure. There are some pretty good lines in this movie and we all know what they are. But they are overused to often in this movie. The music is soulful and will get you on your feet. The climax is a huge chase scene with big special effects. The Blues Brothers is a musical you have been missing out on.
87/100 B+.
