Review of The Blob (1988) by Zac H — 14 Oct 2009
I love it when a horror movie does not hold back! And this movie does not hold back. I am surprised at how different it is from any other horror film made in the 1980's.... The filmmakers set up one person as the hero, only to kill them off halfway through the film. And I love the fact that women and children are amongst the victims because it is so unbelievable when only the women and kids are left at the end of the movie.
Granted... the story is so over the top it is ridiculous (A big pink jelly killing people), but it is fun nevertheless.
The special effect for that time is also quite spectacular.
The end of the movie is a bit gung-ho/Rambo OTT, with the giant sized Jelly monster flattening people left right and centre, but the rest of the movie is very spooky and entertaining.
It wil remain a classic!
