Review of The Blob (1958) by Jeffrey L — 29 Mar 2008
This is an example of a GREAT 1950's B Monster movie. It has the catchy theme song at the beginning, and a giant blob form outer space eating town residents. What else could you ask for? Ok, well I can think of one thing, which is a faster-pace for the beginning.
Way too much time is spent with the cops trying to figure out what happened with the doctor, when the viewer, and every character except for the cops, already knows. I'd say there's a good 15-20 minutes of nothing but the cops searching the dr's empty house, trying to figure out what happened to him.
Other then that, this movie has good acting for being from the 50's, GREAT special effects for that time, and I can see how some younger people might actually be scared by this movie.
