Why is THE BLOB good? I'm not entirely sure, to be honest. The direction is good I suppose, and so is the acting- in a B movie, horror film kind of way. The special features are actually not bad in places, even though the Blob looks like jello.
I walked away from THE BLOB with a feeling of fondness for it. Like many of my horror favorites, you can laugh at THE BLOB and be semi-scared at the same time (although the fright level of THE BLOB is virtually null).
It's a good movie, and I'm glad Criterion decided to preserve it.
