Review of The Bling Ring (2013) by Brad S — 11 Oct 2013
Based on the true story of famous obsessed teenagers, Bling Ring mirrors a shallow North American culture that clearly has placed a weird value on fame and celebrity. I'm not sure which is more disturbing the teenagers stealing 3 million dollars worth of stuff or Paris Hilton's shoe closet.
There have been some comments that in directing the Bling Ring Coppola remained neutral in her presentation of the teenagers. But I would say how could she do anything but be neutral. Nobody comes out of this story looking good.
Paris Hilton's pillows are concerning enough. With regards to the story its actually quite basic - its teenagers breaking into houses - and then eventually getting caught. Over all I think this story should be kind of disturbing to people.
