Review of The Black Balloon (2008) by Julia P — 09 Jun 2012
The title's blandly offputting, the moments off humour are missable from a lack of timing, plus due to the low budget, the soundtrack and camerawork alike run a bit skewiff. But the acting, especially Luke Fords, is inducing due to bold experience, and the script & direction together are remarkably strong, real & witty, carefully (and cleverly) evolving characters throughout from start to end.
It's a real beaut!
