Review of The Birth of a Nation (1915) by Dyron W — 12 Nov 2014
So, here's why you should see this film: produced back in the early twentieth century (1915, to be precise), it's considered one of the first ever movies in the sense that we see them today-with a coherent story, use of jump cuts, and a long running time.
Sounds great, right? Up until you realise the movie is a heartily enthusiastic celebration of the Ku Klux Klan. Only worth watching for the real film buffs and historians; for the rest of us, a grim example of days gone by to be left on the shelf.
