'The Birth of a Nation' is a film that has historical cinematic achievements. However, I can not fully endorse this movie due to its racist portrayal of African-American men and its portrayal of the KKK as a heroic force.
For film studies, we can still dissect this movie and talk about it amongst peers, the good and bad. But, one does not need to appreciate it by any means.
