Review of The Big Store (1941) by Geonard Y — 25 Mar 2007
Directed by Charles Riesner.
Starring The Three Marx Brothers, Margaret Dumont, Tony Martin, Virginia Grey.
The presence of Margaret Dumont in any Marx Brothers movie makes the wind blow differently. It is whenever her shy seesaw romance with the brash, uncontrollable sex fiend Groucho, begins and ends. In ?The Big Store,? the brothers are hired to help save the department store from the clutches of scheming executives. There are the usual number of musical interludes, including a big chorus led by Groucho.
Best Scene: The musical number ?Sing while you sell.?
