Review of The Big Short (2015) by F W — 20 Apr 2016
Disclaimer: I understand next to nothing about the modern economic crisis that caused the 2008 depression.
There something about The Big Short, it took the biggest economic downturn of our time and peeled it chronologically, nicely enough to show how things went from peachy to gloomy. The fact about the big bankers, their nonchalance on the matter of losing it all as they knew taxpayer money was going to bail them out, was unnerving but not entirely unexpected. Great performances from the cast, Steve Carell had a lot of screen time and he did use it, so did Ryan Gosling. Christian Bale and Brad Pitt's characters didn't talk much but left their impacts nonetheless. Overall, a great watch which may invoke the curiosity in some folks to get on with some economics 101.
