Review of The Big Red One (1980) by Manny C — 10 Feb 2010
One of Samuel Fuller's final films is a doozy. Lee Marvin leads a unit through World War II, where the 'war is madness' saying becomes very real. Though Fuller was in his twilight years, his filmmaking powers had hardly diminished.
And then there's Mark Hamill, luke Skywalker himself, giving a very over-looked and under-appreciated performance. One of the very best of the 1980's.
