Review of The Big Hit (1998) by Scott O — 31 Jul 2007
An underrated classic action-comedy. Equal parts John Woo action and cheesy action movie spoofage. Worth the price of admission to have Christina Applegate pose in front of a mirror in spandex pants and ask "is my ass still perky", after which Marky Mark kneads it like pizza dough while Applegate asks "is it firm yet pliable".
Lots of throwaway jokes/gags that keep things lively and while the plot is predictable, the likeableness of Wahlberg's "Melvin Smiley" character coupled with the over-the-top sleaze of Lou Diamond Phillips' "Cisco" character made this movie work for me.
