Review of The Big Hit (1998) by Kevin B — 15 Feb 2011
A group of hit men lead by the unusually hilarious Lou Diamond Phillips decide to make more money by kidnapping a rich man's daughter. Only problem is that the man isn't rich anymore and the girl happens to be the hit men's boss goddaughter, so basically from there their plan goes to hell. The kidnapped girl is staying over at Marky Mark's house. Unfortunately for him his fiancé's parents come to their house which creates problems for him as he tries to hide the girl. Marky Mark's character is a very nice person despite his profession; he is soft spoken and in the end becomes a hero. rounding out the other hit men is a man who just discovered masturbating for the first time and Antonio Sabato Jr. whose character basically does nothing.
-I love this movie, its classic B movie material to the core, from the funny lines, to the pointless violence. This is movie is beyond fun. Lou Diamond Phillips is without a doubt the best part of the movie. He's funny and extremely over the top. The team behind this movie also brought us "Blade" which I thought was a piece of crap but they sure deliver with this movie. John Woo also produces the movie so you know the action scenes are great. Don't expect any doves flying away in slow motion though.
-B movies don't get any better than this, so check it out whenever you get the chance.
