Review of The Big Hit (1998) by Arthur G — 07 May 2008
I feel bad for anyone who takes this movie by any means serious because I doubt Mark Wahlberg did, or did any of the other actors who knew what they were getting into when they filmed this. A whole lot of cussing, an overabundance of testosterone and masculine pop culture hightopping; but amazingly, a VERY delightful story that twists and turns.
THis is more of a movie for a guy's night out than an entertaining one between a dude and his chick, unless they can come to some kind of equal terms about what they're going to find funny-- so keep it safe and know the woman well enough before introducing a film like this out (and for the ladies who DO love this movie, God bless you!) There's an actual attempt at a love story in here but it's so weak you could easily just forget all about it.
It's all about the comic elements of death and betrayal in this one. Bunch of gung-ho guys lookin' to make a few bucks in the process with some backstabbing to go one way and another.
