Review of The Big Country (1958) by Matt W — 03 Oct 2009
Heston is truly magnificent in this majestic western. It's extremely long, and suprisingly short on action, but this is made up for by the stunning cinematography, sterling performances and rousing score.
For a movie which is in many ways a homage to the scenic glory of the American West, The Big Country sports a decidedly un-American message about the futility of violence. For this see Heston and Pecks endless and hilarious fist fight.
