Review of The Big Country (1958) by Steve W — 23 Feb 2015
Gregory Peck plays Jim McKay, a man who is out of his element when he moves out to the America West in order to be with his beloved. A quiet, honourable man, Mckay finds out the Frontier is more savage than he's used to, with rival gangs of cattle ranchers dueling it out for a sweet spot of water for their cattle.
Combining the themes of honour, courage, and humility, The Big Country is about what hate does to people and how it tears them apart and the people they love.
