Review of The BFG (2016) by Conrad S — 22 Jul 2016
While having terrible child acting, and an overabundance of the British stereotype, I still thoroughly enjoyed this film. It's narrative was very simple and easy to follow, as all Roald Dahl stories are, which makes it relatively enjoyable.
The first act tries to create a Zootopia esc personification of prejudice, however, this is unfortunately abandoned after this act. The character of Sophie, while annoying, is at least a competent and intriguing lead.
Where this film really shines are the giants. The whole land of Giant country: The way they act, sleep and eat all scream fantasy to you. The BFG is especially enjoyable, and has a wide selection of excellent lines, and excellent animation.
While it may get off to a rough start, it becomes a very good film in the end.
