A visual spectacle this is a great children's fable. The special fx are top notch and the scenery is fantastic. Not Spielberg's' best but a great movie. The girl, Ruby Barnhill is awesome as Sophie.
Spielberg hasn't lost his touch casting children, that's for sure. There are some flaws in the movie, like it gets into too much giant speak in an overkill way, and the queen of England doesn't portray enough wonder/shock at the site of a giant to me.
But overall, a great kids fable, and over time I'm sure this will become a repeatedly played movie in peoples homes.
