Review of The BFG (2016) by Actingguy 1 — 03 Aug 2016
You would assume the revamped visual technology would allow the remake to be even more adventurous, even more mysterious and even more thrilling? However it turns out The BFG has developed similar to school dinners, a little less fun and safer for children. Although the film entertains, and it's characters become quite likeable by the time credits role, it will have your inner footbal hooligan chanting; "THERE'S ONLY OONE, DAVID JASON!".
By all means go with your family and enjoy yourself but don't expect what you're expecting at the moment. It will give you happiness in unexpected forms, with a pleasing cast showing some real talent.
The big man himself initially comes across as a 20ft drunken geezer in a Yorkshire pub but exits looking as majestic as any other classic comedic character in animated film history. Sophie is also played brilliantly.
Impressive, but hardly triumphant.
