Review of The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) by Joel W — 21 May 2008
A great movie that stands the test of time (think of soldiers returning from the middle east and the problems that they sometimes have.) Cast is a powerhouse, I especially enjoy performances by Virginia Mayo who plays a bit of a floozy and Theresa Wright who I have a crush on and love in everything.
And we can't forget to mention Harold Russell (who isn't a professional actor) who is the only person to ever win two academy awards for the same role. Favorite scene is when Dana Andrews' dad reads his letter of commendation.
..and he begins to realize what his son has been through.
