Review of The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) by Andrea A — 17 Jul 2009
I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I LOVE THIS MOVIE! I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
When I achieve coherence beyond this I'll be back.
Ok, so perhaps later than planned I return to give this remarkable film it's due.
'Best Years' is surely one of the most uplifting, cheer rousing films I have ever and most likely will ever see. It's beauty is in my opinion unmatched by any other film ever made. I went into this movie expecting greatness, to be pleased certainly, what I came away with was awe, an unabashed emotional response, a passion for the film and all of it's flawed, but remarkable characters. Each one brings an element of approachability, of instantaneous likability * save for Virginia Mayo's* which is only heightened and nurtured by the portrayal of their struggles to rise above their flaws and to ultimately find their place in this world. I can't really begin to adequately convey my adoration for this movie. It is quite simply a piece of my heart now and forever.
