Review of The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) by Elliott F — 14 May 2010
A powerful, moving melodrama that is every bit as relevant in 2010 as it was in 1946. This is not a movie about ordinary people thrust into extraordinary situations, nor is it a movie about extraordinary people doing extraordinary things; this is purely a film about ordinary people doing ordinary things.
In terms of strictly storytelling, it's one of the finest films I've ever seen.
