Review of The Beastmaster (1982) by Bradley F — 13 Jan 2009
My wife and I just finished watching The Beastmaster. We both remembered the movie from when we were kids. We were both fascinated by the animals. The movie still entertains after 26 years. The special effects weren't quite what we've become used to, but the acting, and the use of real animals performing intricate stunts during the movie were impressive and amusing.
My wife seemed especially fascinated by the two ferrets, Kodo and Podo. The story isn't in depth, but it didn't have to be. This is a classic boy meets girl, girl is in trouble, boy rescues girl movie with a few twists, like Dar's ability to speak to animals.
There is a good bit of action, some witty dialogue and the women in the movie run around dressed scantily or topless. That's always a bonus! This movie is definitely worth watching!
