Review of The Beast Must Die (1974) by James S — 28 Feb 2012
It's an almost unbearable corny movie set to the music from the 70s that just doesn't work. Yet it's a cool idea, giving you clues, red herrings, suspects, and the chance to solve the mystery is a neat aspect. However the movie drops the ball a lot. The werewolf is just a dog, no fancy Lon Chaney effects. The night time lighting is terrible and you can't see what is going on, because the werewolf's fur is black! Still good acting from Cushing, Clark, Chadbon, and the rest, so it is worth watching if your an old school horror fan and you want to see an interesting take on the werewolf genre.
"One of these eight people will turn into a werewolf. Can you guess who it is when we stop the film for the WEREWOLF BREAK? See it ... solve it ... but don't tell!".
