Review of The Basketball Diaries (1995) by Mariana A — 11 Mar 2010
For the first time, this was a film I enjoyed more than the book. I suspect that I read the book at too young an age, though, before I could really understand it. While I was never a part of the drug-using crowd in NYC, I knew plenty who were, so watching the movie now, in my 20s, I could understand and relate to it much better than I could to the book at, say, 13 or so.
In fact, this made me interested in giving the book another go.
