Review of The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) by Dickie L — 26 Apr 2009
Films about the film industry are nearly always fun to watch, especially when they're as cynical as The Bad And The Beautiful.
Looks pretty pulpy and cliched now, although its well acted, especially by Kirk Douglas as the connivingly sleazy movie producer reportedly based on David O Selznick.
Denouement is a bit of a let-down and the treatment in general lacks the ironic bite of Sunset Boulevard and All About Eve.
