Review of The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) by Victor L — 05 May 2011

Kirk Douglas is fantastic as the cynical producer who utilizes people to make money and when they are not useful for him anymore, he throws them away like old stuff. Great picture whose main message is that every single thing you do, good or bad, but specially bad, sooner or later will be known by the whole world and it will affect your reputation.

Everybody needs everybody and you shouldn't do people what you wouldn't like them do to you. Not sure if I expressed myself correctly, but this is the film mainly about. Of course, the Hollywood background is memorable and it depicts its misery in a very bold way for its time.

Memorable is the Academy Award Winner for Best Supporting Actress, Gloria Grahamme, the foolish and overwhelming wife of the writer turned into a screenwriter that ends with her life due to Shield's (Douglas) evil plot to keep her away from her husband so that he can concentrate on the movie Shields is going to produce.
