Review of The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) by S L — 03 Dec 2009
I finally got to watch this and came away just impressed wholeheartedly. What a magnificent film. As usual, Vicente Minnelli just directs a great picture and every aspect is fantastic. The story is beautifully written and the actors give great performances.
What really impresses me is the film's seeming intent on satirizing Hollywood during the studio era and some of its more major figures, including Selznick and Hitchcock. Awesome film that instantly joins Sunset Boulevard on my personal list of faves.
