Review of The Babadook (2014) by Jenn F — 25 Aug 2015
Ultimately, it's a film about the importance of finding common language. The boy finds common language with first his cousin, then with his mom. The mom, in turn, finds common language with the Babadook.
And the results are at hand. That's mainly a bit of tongue-in-cheekery for those who've already seen the movie. On a more earnest note: between the thick mood, the acting, the fact that it manages a high level of terror without a single cheap sound-jolt trick AND works fairly well on a metaphorical level to boot - this is a hard one to complain about.
