Review of The Awful Truth (1937) by Jason H — 17 Nov 2008
The Awful Truth definitely deserves its reputation as one of the all-time great screwball comedies. Cary Grant is my favorite actor and he is as terrific as ever in this film but modern audiences aren't as familiar with Irene Dunne, who is every bit his equal.
This movie really stands the test of time - perhaps due to the fact that the director encouraged the actors to improvise. Kudos also to one of the greatest dog actors of all time - Asta (sp?) from The Thin Man.
