Review of The Attack (2012) by Paul T — 12 Jun 2013
This is one of the films I had been really looking forward to seeing the most at this years Sydney Film Festival. The premise sounded exciting and intriguing.
Unfortunately after a very solid opening 30 minutes it got really bogged down as the pace slowed and it was badly let down by some really poor direction and editing. You should barely notice editing in a film and the way this was edited and shot, from close up to wide shot, to over the shoulder to tiny spoken scenes that lasted 30 seconds, to watching someone walk or drive for what felt like minutes, it just really alienated and frustrated.
It could've been really good and I ended up distracted and bored. Disappointing.
