Review of The Art of War (2000) by Michael P — 23 Jun 2009
I generally steer clear of "set up and betrayed, now everything is pinned on this one guy and he has to blah blah blah" plots. Like the fifteen that were released in just the past two years. But around that in this movie is a ton of fantastic action.
A few martial arts fights, a few chases, a high-speed car escape... And it all comes complete with the classic action movie "Main character infiltrates a party, makes himself looks better than everyone, then makes a sweet escape" opener.
I particularly liked the way he ran the same on-foot chase twice, though the twist revealed during the second one was really obvious all the way back during the first one. In all, the plot was fairly decent, nothing special.
But this is definitely the kind of action I like in my movies. Major points for that.
