Review of The Andromeda Strain (1971) by David H — 26 Oct 2007
The film is very interesting visually, possessing some special effects that far belie the 1971 release date. However, this film is a film about machines, mostly. There is little in the way of character development.
The story is a "how-dun-it" in that it's not who wiped out an entire Nevada town, but rather how was it done. Sets are obviously influenced by 2001 and feature some very interesting setpieces.
However, the film overall leaves a bit of a cold, metallic taste.
