A perfect remake of the original 1979 Amityville. This updated version of the 1979 classic has the same plot as the original film but it is incredibly different than the original. Usually this is one of the best haunted house films since Paranormal Activity and one of the best remakes to come out this year.

I actually enjoyed this film because it was scarier than the original Amityville. Usually the 1979 Amityville was ok because it has some good scares but the whole movie was incredibly boring and not even suspenceful as well.

Now let's go back to the remake. The 2005 updated version of the 1979 Amityville has so many good moments and the whole movie is incredibly suspenceful, scary, creepy and plain evil. The scares in the film is completely over the top and of course it is also unsettling than the original 1979 Amityville.

The scares were really over the top from the start of the film everything is completely unsettling and unerving until the end of the film. There are lots of scenes in which I jump at least many times the scene when the priest is trying to get rid of the bad spirits in the house until a swarm of flies came out of the vent of the house was really suspenceful and creepy and when the little girl Jodie keeps appearing in some scenes of the film.

The entire film is really well made and it is much better than the 1979 version. Michael Bay's production company Platinum Dunes once again brought another good horror film to scare audiences. Since The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake was incredibly unsettling, unnerving and relentless.

This updated version of The Amityville Horror is incredibly suspenceful, unsettling, unerving, relentless and the scares are completely over the top. The acting was also good. Ryan Reynolds did a good job with his performance as George Lutz he was really good and he was scary at the other scenes of the film.

Melissa George did a good job also with her performance as Kathy Lutz. Director Andrew Douglas and writer Scott Kosar has brought the updated version of the 1979 classic to life they did a good job with the entire film.

Andrew Douglas did a good job with his directing of the updated version of the 1979 classic he knows how to build suspense, tension and scares as well. I'm also proud with Scott Kosar's work with the film since he did a good job with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake he also did a good job with the updated version of The Amityville Horror.

I would give this film a 10/10 because the entire film is suspenceful, unsettling, unnerving, unrelenting, creepy and the scares are over the top. Oh and the acting is also good.
