Review of The Agony and the Ecstasy (1965) by Jean G — 26 Aug 2008
Very good film by director Carol Reed about the story behind the painting of the Sistine Chapel. It is ultimately the story of the personal battle between two men, the powerful Pope Julius II and the proud Michelangelo Buonarroti.
It contains marvelous works of art, the first 15 minutes of the film being a sort of documentary about Michelangelo's work, and beautiful sights of medieval/Reinassance Italy.
