Review of The Agony and the Ecstasy (1965) by Mitts 2 — 26 Aug 2008
I don't know how true this film is, but it was very awe-inspiring. I loved the introduction with all of the sculpture pieces by Michelangelo. As an art student, I found this to be a special treat. I also found the relationship between the artist and his patron to be really amusing (though this makes me question its authenticity).
Overall, it was more fun than I thought it'd be. And who can pass up the opportunity to see the Sistine Chapel so closely? I can understand the frustration he must have gone through during that time in his life.
The pressure of coming up with a good idea and trying a medium that you're not used to definitely makes me a nervous wreak lol. But I found it hard to not view him as "Charlton Heston", the man who played both Moses and BenHur.
Oh well, at least there was the art.
