A very good film of exquisite production design and a real coiled, brimming passion and power that is exemplified in Day-Lewis' remarkable performance. Ryder and Pfeiffer is brilliant too in their roles, in fact the biggest problem is Scorsese himself who can't quite match the restraint of the piece and falls for some overly showy camera work and movement.
