Review of The Age of Adaline (2015) by Globalnomad — 04 Jul 2015
***½ Absorbing and poignant love story with a touch of “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” but a better film than that. Freak accident involving lightning and ice renders beautiful young woman incapable of aging.
(Wish I could catch a break like that.) The film explores two sides of the coin: Yes, it's great to be beautiful, young and biologically immortal, and thus to experience all the world has to offer, becoming rich in the process (e.
G., investing in Xerox in 1950, because time's on her side). But it's also lonely running from those who would poke and prod her and others who could never be long-term lovers. Well done, Blake Lively; lively indeed.
