Review of The African Queen (1952) by Jennifer A — 09 May 2008
Nothing like the jungle, leeches, and Katharine Hepburn stuck on a boat with Humphrey Bogart. The chemistry and performances in this film are amazing. Bogart is so gritty and a wreck at times as a character in this film.
The film has always been a favorite of mine for that frailty which both characters reveal and the strength which they find at the end. The impressively lush location in which John Huston filmed this is also a beauty to see.
