Review of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949) by Jack S — 03 Aug 2012
The adventures of Ichabod and Mr Toad is a good an example of a disney film that doesn't age well with time. The movie consists of two seperate stories, one of a mischivious toad and the other about a lanky school teacher who tries to find love and riches but instead ends up being lifted of by the headless horseman.
Now I've never read any of these stories before but both adaptations seem rather bland. The Mr toad segment lacks time to develop good characters and instead shows us something you'd see in a saturday morning cartoon.
The Ichabod segment retains a little more disney charm that tells a better story even with characters who don't say much. Neither of these stories are bad but they lack the disney charm that the later disney films seemed to be fiiled to the brim with.
Overall The adventure of Ichabod and Mr Toad, is just your average disney film, but is still worth seeing once.
