Review of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (1949) by Jason C — 03 Oct 2009
While I am not a big fan of the Mr Toad side of this duet, I love the Sleepy Hollow story. I have always liked the original short story by Washington Irving and this has long been a part of my families Halloween tradition.
The animation is great for its day and age, the songs are wonderfully performed and of course the story is excellent. I can remember watching it as a kid on TV each Halloween and getting that thrill at the end as Ichabod is running for his life.
Tere was always just enough humor to keep it from being too scary for little kids. Classic Disney animaion done right. Mr Toad I can take or leave.
