Review of The Adventures of Baron Munchausen (1988) by Alexander F — 05 Mar 2012
Before there was "The Fall" there was Baron Munchausen. You slightly get that Monty Python vibe with this film of course. It is the Age of Reason and Science versus Imagination and Fantasy. Most of it seems like a mishmash of insanity but for those who know there is a lot of symbolism, inversions, hidden meanings and even double meanings throughout this film.
Most see it as a message of anit-establishment, independent thinking and freeing your imagination but that is just the surface. If you dig much deeper it actually is quite disturbing.
