Review of The Adjustment Bureau (2011) by Liam C — 28 Oct 2013
I liked it. I thought the blend of the genres was unique. I was a little skeptical when I saw in the opening credits 'written by Philip K Dick' because the way his mind works never really translates to screen very well, its either really deftly executed or its a gigantic failure and this was not the latter.
I had a good time watching it. The concept is preposterous but once you get past that and let the movie go its natural course it just becomes something fun you don't need to think about. It seems like sort of a cop out, I'd have liked it to stick to one genre of the two and deliver a story that has more emotion and thought provoking nature to it but what we got was fine and made you think, if just a little bit.
I don't see why the relationship in the movie between the two main leads was getting so much attention it just seemed so standard typical American-we-need-to-put-a-love-story-in-here-somewhere but with the help of its story it made it urgent and interesting to watch, I'm not saying its bad.
I actually thought I was going to tear up at one point. Only thing I didn't much care for was the ending, I thought it'd defy convention given the subject of the story, what a silly thought, I know.
